Sentimental, sweet, nostalgic, all words that can be used to describe this adorable singer-songwriter tune about perseverance within a romantic relationship. Finger picking on an acoustic guitar has always had a sentimental value to me, I think what brings out the emotion is how each plucked note is fairly distant from the last in terms of pitch which gives it a raindrop effect. Definitely worth a listen to on a chill Sunday morning. If you put this on with your s/o around they’d probably think it was sentimental and sweet as well.
“Texas-born songwriter, Jarrod Dickenson’s slightly spooky melodies and lyrics invoke a mid-Western post-war America, when cars ran on leaded gas, television hadn’t yet kidnapped the country’s imagination, and men wore hats every day. His reflective and soulful lyrics, almost like hand-written letters, remind us that human stories of lost love, sudden fortune, and abiding mystery transcend the decades…and nothing is better or worse right now than it’s ever been.”
