Infectious and carrying itself with a sense of dominant swagger is “On and On” the latest single from Indian Askin. The song strikes a similar chord in me as Los Angeles based act Nvdes but Indian Askin seems a little more in control of their sound producing a well polished dance track. One of my favorite things “On and On” does is occasionally it skips the downbeat which gives that moment a trippy feeling as though you legitimately tripped and are falling forwards. The song features similar but slightly more impressive guitar work than a champion song from 2018 “High” by Sir Sly. The vocal rhythms during the repetition of “On and On” are psychedelic and the record skip outro at the end only makes this a more fun and groovy song. “On and On” by Indian Askin is a thorough commercial production that could land a sync in something like a car commercial or a new tech gadget and are definitely and act to be watched as they continue to grow artistically. Indian Askin has been active since 2016 and have a couple other releases I recommend checking out on your streaming service of choice. See attached Spotify link and artist biography below.
“Indian Askin dropped their debut album Sea Of Ethanol in April 2016, the album entered the Dutch Album charts at a solid #8 position. The Dutch press is all over the band and calls it one of the biggest new talents from the Netherlands. Their psychedelic, somewhat twisted, nu-punk has an undeniable Indian Askin sound, but also pays respect to all great music from the sixties, seventies and nineties.
The last two bundle releases from Indian Askin, I Feel Something & I Know How To Party, had great support from Spotify in the Netherlands, with 12 Spotify playlists, including hit-playlist Summer’18 with more than 237k followers and multiple NMF featuring’s. The new release On and On has been added to the big international Spotify playlist New Noise with more than 290k followers. The band will release one more bundle this year, which will be released on 25th of January 2019.
Indian Askin is also making name for themselves in the live circuit, which started by being the support act for several artists such as Maximo Park, Foals and De Staat. They continued with their own successful club tour and played almost every festival in the Netherlands last summer, including Best Kept Secret and Lowlands. Indian Askin is also expanding internationally with shows in Belgium, Germany, the UK, Lithuania, Czech Republic and France. They have just announced a club tour in the Netherlands in February and March 2019.
Dutch national radio station 3FM has embraced Indian Askin and even asked them to represent the station at Eurosonic Festival in 2017. The band has also won an Edison Awards (Dutch Grammy’s) in the categories ‘Best New Talent’.
Indian Askin has been around since 2007. Lead singer Chino Alaya (1987) is a writer, singer, guitarist and one of the producers of the band. Chino has Paraguayan roots, and more specifically he is descended from the Guarani-Indians. His father is an inimitable harpist in a classical orchestra in Rome. Chino has been playing various instruments since he was young. The band is completed with Jasja Offermans (1991) on the bass guitar, Ferry Kunst (1987) on the drums and Bart van de Elst (1996) the youngest in the group, on the keys.”
