First ever band from Singapore featured on Its Not Records. Comparable sounds to acts you could find on a mix of Ghost Ramp and Third Man this up and coming band from Singapore writes great indie rock music that borders punk. Fun and energetic and filled with hooks in both the guitar and vocal melodies that are solidified by a driving rhythm section at Its Not Records we are really looking forward to seeing this band blossom and put out more polished material (not that I wouldn’t listen to this as is). You can find another demo on their soundcloud titled “Sky (demo)” and you can listen to “Waters” as well as learn more about the band in their biography below.
“Coming Up Roses are an indie/dream-pop quartet from Singapore.
Originally an acoustic duo formed in 2016 by Emily Sia (bass, vocals) and Darius Oon (guitar), the band later expanded its ranks in 2017 with the addition of Lorenzo Romero (guitar) and Bruce Tan (drums), refreshing their sound with a host of new originals and a new sound.
Characterised by a wide array of sonic textures, aggressive drumming and evocative vocal melodies, the band carves a sound that is introspective, yet unrestrained and raw, drawing from genres as diverse as shoegaze, grunge, pop and metal.
In 2018, the band began to play gigs across various venues in their home city of Singapore, while also qualifying as one of six budding bands to make an appearance at the renowned Baybeats Festival. In addition, they released ‘Waters’ as a demo and are intent on recording an EP of original music to be released in 2019.
