I’m No Chessman “In The Morning”

“In The Morning” by I’m No Chessman is a bouncy fun dark song that carries an angsty punch that is for fans of My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, or Fall Out Boy from  maybe just after 2005 when they were riding high on From Out Under the Cork Tree.  The songs instrumentation is; punchy compressed pumping drums, well mixed subtle bass, a thin wall of guitar, and a jazzy dark piano though what makes it stand out is the bridge where there are miles of layers while the vocalists sing “hope you were only as bad as me”.  The song ends with an authentic and organic piano line that stops just shy of releasing tension before the band follows the pianist down the rabbit hole into the outro.  Finally the finale is the chorus that will be stuck in your head for hours after you’re done listening “In The Morning” I’m No Chessman.  See attached band biography below.

“I’m No Chessman is an alternative rock band creating original music in Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. Together since 2013, the group wears its modern rock sound well, writing sleek, grooving songs that still pack the needed punch and crunch of proper post rock.

The band was formed by by guitarist/vocalist Michael Rockett and guitarist/pianist Jason Wheeler, who first met in school almost twenty years ago. The lineup has shifted a bit over time but the current roster of Rockett, Wheeler, bassist Aaron Roberts, and drummer Jez Lee is the strongest one yet. 2018 will be a big year for I’m No Chessman, one that should lift the group out of the underground and into the world at large.

The chatter from the UK underground about I’m No Chessman is strong and positive, not surprisingly. The band has both the hooks and power to grab a much larger audience and many insiders expect it to do nothing less. 2018 will be a big year for I’m No Chessman, one that should lift the group out of the underground and into the world at large.”
