Michal Towber “Rockstar” off of No Resolution

Now a 38 year old mother of three, Michal Towber is a “Rockstar”.  This is a fun and uplifting song about being a rock and roll star.  The song is fun, energetic and features a ripping guitar solo around the 2:45 minute mark that is juxtaposed by a haunting line panned on the opposite side of your headphones.  The lyrics are slightly goofy in a Jack Black animated style and this is clearly intentional with the ending cough.  “Rockstar” also features haunting Halloween esque distorted guitar licks that play lots of tensions and a hi-hat that only hits on the upbeat which gives the whole song a very bouncy vibe.  Definitely a song you can put on if you want to jump around and sing into a hair brush and make believe you’re as much of a rock star as Michal Towber is.

The whole record, No Resolution, is an album for fans of acts like The Pretty Reckless, Evanescence, and other female fronted hard rock acts.  Some personal favorites of mine are; “Rockstar” (obviously), “Old”, “Bondage”, and “Cut Me”.  Michal Towber favorite tracks are; “The Crash,” “Devil You Love,” “Bondage,” and “Before Tonight.”  See attached artist biography below.

“Michal released her first record, “Sky With Stars”, on SONY/Columbia at 17. She was mentored by Billy Joel, who noted “she’s a great songwriter”; and fellow Hunter High School alum, Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton”), recently tweeted that she was “always the most talented person in our class.” In 2005 she won an EMMY award for OUTSTANDING COMPOSITION on the daytime television drama “One Life to Live”. Her music has been featured by SONOS, Rdio, Canon, and Urban Decay.”
