Guys! It’s just after Halloween and there is still a monster on the loose! Oh no wait? It’s just the groovy new tune from Aaron Taos “Control”. I hope the monster had fun kicking it on this hot summer day in San Francisco, dancing and grooving. “Control” could be compared to acts that are popular today somewhere around Sir Sly or Portugal, the Man with a touch of Miike Snow. If you’re a fan of any of those acts this is probably for sure for you. I would also say Tame Impala but personally I can see myself dancing way more to this than I ever could to Tame Impala. The song itself while groovy and fun I do think could use more diversity in dynamics however that could be the nature of compression in the indie electronic style. The bass, synthesizers, and drum grooves are layered nicely to create some sense of ebb and flow within “Control”. The music video is groovy and fun and if you were to put it on at a drinking party in the background you’d for sure get a good reaction out of the crowd. Easy to digest and fun to watch. Looking forward to what comes next from Aaron Taos.
From the artist;
“Control” is the first single off of my new project “Birthday Boy.” “Control” is about the monotony and malaise of daily life in the suburbs. It’s about going through the motions day to day and falling in a pattern where you lose some agency… a “Truman Show” type situation. It is accompanied by a music video directed by Patrick Golan. I was the one in the monster costume… for 14 hours on a hot day in august. It was a nightmare.
