Oh my god I can’t believe I was so lucky to come across a song so enchanting as this in a sea of songwriters who lack substance. “Tell Me Who to Be” by Glom stands out to me for a number of reasons, the instrumental arrangement is a wonderful combination of 90’s alternative and 80s synthpop that will please a wide audience. A driving beat and heavy grooves will make you fall in love with Glom “Tell Me Who To Be”. This comes from La Reserve Records a Brooklyn based label that features some great acts such as; Yellow Shoots and Tuarrah among others. Seriously recommend checking out Glom “Tell Me Who To Be” below!
FROM LA RESERVE.
On February 11, 2019, Brooklyn-based indie/alternative rock band Glom will release their debut single, ‘Tell Me Who to Be’, from their forthcoming debut record slated for July 2019.
Glom provides nothing but the absolute essentials to deliver their proper debut. ‘Tell Me Who to Be’ is the essence of Glom’s straightforward sound. The song’s lyrical mantra captures feelings of reflection and bitterness, while also encouraging growth and progress through a sarcastic tone and nostalgic sound. ‘Tell Me Who to Be’ shows us how creation can be found through repetition.
“The song’s simple vocal idea is molded through different chord harmonies to illustrate the shift into introspective progress,” explains Sean Christian.
Propelled by catchy strat lead riffs, distorted drums and soaring synth lines along with Sahil Ansari’s thorough and lush production style, Glom delivers the song’s message in an electric blanket of warm sound.
Prior to moving to Brooklyn, Glom formed in the DC area as founders Sean Christian and Peter Warren, along with Jonathan Harwood and Sahil Ansari grew up playing music together. They draw upon 90s alternative rock influences to deliver a familiar sound in a new way. Glom’s upbeat fuzzy pop foursome is completed by fifth member “Johan” Crandall’s shiny synthesizer and tambourine.
