Amo Amo – tour dates and new album produced by Jim James

Amo Amo just dropped a new full length and it instantly combines a certain elegance and class with an earthy organic sonic quality.  Dynamically the record is for an audience that enjoys a mellower meditative sound.  Amo Amo clearly understands who they are as you can see below in their video “When I Look At You”.  Like all things good entertainment it stretches the meanings of the word to tell multiple stories throughout the video and also introduces a sense of over the top-ness that is charming and mystical but also adult and edgy.

Amo Amo will be going on tour with My Morning Jacket this summer and since the record was produced by Jim James you can hear some of the influence in the tone of the record that might remind people of Evil Urges with some of the pad synth choices especially for me in “Closer To You” where in the music video the band embraces their southern California flower child romantic sound.  This record is sure to speak to any millennial who has caught the Pinterest bug of wanderlust that has been going around.  I know Amo Amo makes me want to save up then go live in a magic bus and forget any pressure of a social contract.

Legendary mastering engineer Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Ocean) said “I really love these songs, they are stand outs of the past year for me…Amo Amo has made a very special album.”
Jenny Eliscu (Rolling Stone, Sirius XM) added “Rarely do I come across a new band with as strong a sense of self-identity as Amo Amo…their live show is ecstatic.”
