“One God Damn” is so beautiful

Airy and atmospheric vocals accompanied by a soothing performance from Michael Bakers band create for a divine sound. The chorus will have you hooked, I promise. To me “One God Damn” is a passionate ode to the memories we create with the ones we love. Soft in dynamics this song is a good end of the week tune to relax too. The soft falsettos aid in the decompression while a changing landscape in the video invites people from all locations to feel as though they are a part of the composition.

Listening to “One God Damn” makes me very nostalgic and it’s probably going to bring a tear to your eye if you believe in the beauty of humanity, art, and culture. I’d say this track has sync potential other than the explicit hook but without it the song wouldn’t have quite nearly as much of a powerful effect. PRESS NOTES:

Created from only iphone footage of the band and friends, collected over 2 years leading up to the release of Michael Baker’s 2nd Album ‘Salt’

Video filmed and edited by Alice Humphreys

” Written in the shadows of sadness looking towards the light. It’s about accepting the darkness, and understanding how to see the beauty in moments, regardless, and longing to be able carry the weight of the burden’s on those you love.

We should really help each other as much as we can, I wouldn’t be okay without the help from my people, kindness is key – share the love! ”

“One God Damn” Lyrics:

Oh Mother

Have you found the Sea

Stay carefree

And I’ll be the wolf in this story

Brother

Scared may you be

Stay carefree

And I’ll be the wolf in this story

Because it’s one god damn beautiful thing

I see over

What a god damn beautiful thing

And it grows and it grows

Another rise to the breath

Remember the sad little swims

in our story

Because it’s one god damn beautiful thing

I see over

What a god damn beautiful thing

and it grows and it grows

(Push to pull let it out)

(Push to pull let it out)

I’ve been really trying

(Push to pull let it out)

To keep you on my hands

(Push to pull let it out)

To the ground

Because it’s one god damn beautiful thing

I see over

What a god damn beautiful thing

and it grows and it grows

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Michael is a 28 yr old singer-songwriter from the south of England, half French (mother’s side) in his formative years he spent 6 months of each year in the beautiful French Alps (Saint Gervais) where he first honed his writing skills.

At 18 he travelled around France and the rest of Europe busking for the first time on the streets to make his way from one place to the next living out of a tent. It was his first experience of playing his own music to a crowd of people and getting money from his art. When he came back to England he says he knew writing & performing music was something he had to pursue. Michael applied and was accepted to study his craft at world renowned ACM in Guildford. Over the next few years Michael played and wrote in various bands. In-between all this he was always writing music for his solo project without thinking about ever putting it out. As the bands faded and split up he was left with wondering what to do next.

Michael took to the streets, busking again & began to play his new own solo music to strangers, a great way to get feedback and trial sings to the public he recounts. He then saved up money from busking and with the help of long-time friends created his first solo E.P. ‘Keys to the Kingdom’ followed up with the raw live Caroline’ E.P. ‘ at the same time he decided to live in his van & give it everything he had. Michael travelled wrote and went to record his debut album whilst also working part time in various cafe’s & taking any job he could to save up money to make this album; including being a van for hire man, jobs included, rubbish collection and home removals, anything to earn money to survive. Dust & Bone has been two years in the making with Michael whittling down over 50 songs to 11 tracks that he can be proud of. The album has been Produced and Mixed by Bristol-based producer Dan Brown (Massive Attack, Phantom Limb) songs written with Dan Brown, Jim Lowe (Sterophonics, The Charlatans, Herbie Hancock) Peter Vettese (Carly Simon,Simple Minds) Ben Christophers (Bat For Lashes,Guy Garvey) along with long-time collaborators, Speakman Sound, Charlie Elwess, Ed Martin & Georgia Mason.

Pouring his heart and soul into every sinew of these songs, the feeling of sheer honesty, belonging and serenity that many say are Michael’s hallmark, are constantly demonstrated throughout this Album.
