Beachtape “Somebody Like Hugh”

Pounding drums and pushing bar chords power “Somebody Like Hugh”. Beachtape puts out a song that has so much energy yet still makes me feel like I’m tired in autopilot mode. The reason for this stoner feeling for me is a combination of the relaxed vocal performance and harmonic qualities that create tension which makes for an interesting feeling tune. “Somebody Like Hugh” being an angsty play on the cliche mirrored in the punk rock vibes. This makes me think of the Treble Chargers but if I were actually going to mosh at a concert.

Brighton indie-rock band Beachtape release their new single Somebody Like Hugh on the 22ndof August. Straddling the worlds of Pavement, Weezer and The Pixies, Somebody Like Hughfollows the bands double A-side, Fix It Up / Figure It Out (Nov 2018), and builds upon their previous release with its catchy chorus and lo-fi fuzz sound.
